SUSTAINABILITY DESIGN

The Pontedera is the third urban infill condominium HomeSight has developed in the past five years, and represents the culmination of our vision for high density housing that is affordable and attractive. For those seeking a home in the city, close to jobs, entertainment and shopping, a single family house is often beyond their means. The Pontedera offers an opportunity to live in the vibrant, cosmopolitan South Downtown neighborhood, where the current median condominium home price is well over half a million dollars.

Higher density urban living is the ultimate means of ensuring a sustainable future. The Pontedera's multi-story construction, on a half acre urban lot, preserves approximately 12 acres of undeveloped rural land that would be required to create the same number of homes outside of the city. The Pontedera, like our past developments, uses Built Smart energy efficient construction. This includes Energy Star rated appliances that save a homeowner over 30% a year on their electric bill. Water conserving fixtures and appliances that reduce water usage by more than 20% over conventional fixtures and appliances. Wall panels are constructed in a factory and delivered to the site for assembly reducing construction waste by 25%.

Wherever possible we use products manufactured or sourced in the Northwest, further helping to sustain our local economy and reduce the energy used in long distance transportation. Examples include:

  • Milgard windows designed and built in Tacoma.
  • King wall heaters manufactured in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle.
  • Wood flooring from Bamboo Hardwoods of Seattle.
  • Bathroom tubs and showers produced by Lasco Bathware's in Yelm, WA.
  • Metal siding from AEP Span of Tacoma.
  • Steel rebar by Nucor of West Seattle.
  • Plywood from SDS in Bingen, WA as well as Hardel Mutual Plywood Corp. in Chehalis.
  • Hardi composite wallboard siding from Tacoma.
  • Metal framing clips from Simpson in Kent.
  • Concrete from Stoneway's batch plant in Renton.
  • Wood framing from Armstrong Lumber of Auburn.
  • Wood doors from Frontier Door in Lynden.
  • Garage doors manufactured by Davis Door Service of Seattle.
  • Tile from Georgetown Tile Works of Seattle

Getting good value in your home purchase will allow you to build equity for the future. Living in an energy efficient home close to the jobs, entertainment and shopping of downtown Seattle will help reduce your household expenses for a more sustainable lifestyle.
